Obituary

Janice Fay Evers, 81, a resident of the Forest Grove community passed away with her children by her side on January 4, 2019.

Janice was born on February 8, 1937 at her grandparents home in Rainier, OR. She was one five children born to George and Mildred (Anderson) Sherburne. She was raised in Rainier and attended Rainier High School graduating with the Class of 1955.

She met Thomas Welter through mutual friends and they married on February 12, 1955 in Rainier, OR. They made their home in Goble and had three children; Sherri, Jeff and Annette. Tommy passed away on January 27, 1994 and Janice continued to live in Rainier at the family home. She was introduced to Eugene "Gene" Evers by her youngest daughter, Annette. This introduction grew to a friendship and then a marriage on July 1, 1997 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Forest Grove. They moved to Gene's farm in Forest Grove where they have been living since.

Janice was a loving and devoted mother to her family, she also had worked for the Rainier School District for well over 30 years. She started as a receptionist/secretary and had retired as the Custodian of Funds for the school district.

She enjoyed gardening especially her flowers, fuchsia, irises and roses. She was a great cook and enjoyed trips to the beach to go clam digging. She loved being a grandmother, hosting family events, and reading. Janice also enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity for travel within the US and to New Zealand and the Panama Canal.

She is preceded in death by her husband; Thomas Welter, a sister; Suzanne Burke, and her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Gene, of the family home, three children and their spouses; Sherri and Bob Henry of Kent, WA, Jeff and Sherry Welter of St Helens, OR, Annette and Randy Merrill of Hillsboro, eight step children, three siblings; Caroline Wisegarver, Dan Sherburne, Phil Sherburne, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many many extended family and friends.
