Obituary

Henri Bernard Joyaux, 78, a resident of the Verboort community died Monday afternoon, January 14, 2013 at his home.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2013 at the St Anthony Catholic Church; 1660 Elm Street in Forest Grove.

A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m.

Family and friends are invited to attend a reception following the Mass held at the parish hall.

Private interment will take place at Visitation Catholic Cemetery in Verboort, OR

Henri was born on August 4, 1934 in San Luis Obispo, CA. He was the only child born to Jean and Berdena (Garrigus Brady) Joyaux. He was raised in Birmingham, CA and attended San Mateo High School graduating with the Class of 1952. Henri was enlisted into the US Army and served his country for two years and was honorably discharged.

He was united in marriage to his wife, Sandra McAllisten in September of 1958. Following their marriage they made their home in Beaverton, OR. Sandra died in 1971. He met Patricia (Roshak) Christensen through mutual friends and they were soon married on August 5, 1972 at St Matthew Catholic Church in Hillsboro. They made their home in Verboort just outside of Cornelius, OR.

Henri was a self employed electronic design engineer and had worked in several capacities in the early history of electronics’ in Washington County. He helped design video games, lectured at PSU, Had worked for Ford Industry as an electronic designer, as well as for Lockheed Missile and Space CO in CA. He had also been a consultant for View Master, had been employed as director of engineering at Rogers Organ in Hillsboro and was also a lecturer at PCC.

He enjoyed bird watching, working on computers, playing the organ, woodworking and gardening. He also had a private pilot’s lic. and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his 1st wife; Sandra and a great-granddaughter; Reese Holland Becker

His is survived by his loving wife of Patricia of the family home; two children and their spouses; Chantelle and David Polito of Wilsonville, OR, H Bernard of Vancouver, WA, five step-children and their spouses; Gayle and Norman Verboort of Hillsboro, OR, Diane and Dave VanDomelen of Hillsboro, OR, Linda Christensen and Lyle Blow both of Forest Grove, OR, Jeffrey and Geena Christensen of Diamond Bar, CA, Carol and Tim Howarth of Hillsboro, OR, fifteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren

The family suggests donations in Henri’s name to St Anthony’s Catholic Church in Forest Grove and or University of Portland and or Valley Catholic Scholarship Fund
