Obituary

Dorothy Jozina Cawrse, 97, a resident of the Verboort community died Monday, June 18, 2012 at her home in Verboort.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 25, 2012 at Visitation Catholic Church; 4285 NW Visitation Rd in Verboort

Funeral Mass will follow the Rosary at 10:30 AM.

Rite of Christian Burial and Vault interment will follow the Mass held at the Visitation Catholic Cemetery in Verboort.

Family and friends are invited to attend a reception following the burial held in the parish hall.

Dorothy was born on March 25, 1915 in Forest Grove, OR. She was one of three children born to Albert and Dina (Smith) VanLoo. She was raised on the family farm in Verboort and attended school at the Visitation Catholic School.

She met her future husband, Lorain Cawrse, while at a church dance; they soon began dating and were married on November 10, 1938 in Verboort, OR. Following their marriage they made their home at Dorothy’s family farm. In 1948 they built their current home in Verboort where they have resided since. Lorain died in 1991.

Dorothy was a mother to her two sons; Dave and Dan; she had also owned and operated the Chat and Nibble Restaurant in Verboort. She had also operated a beauty shop out of her home in the 1950’s. Dorothy retired as a switchboard receptionist from the Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro in 1996.

Among her interest she enjoyed reupholstering furniture, singing at wedding and funerals and playing organ. She also enjoyed traveling wither husband as well as with her sons. Dorothy enjoyed customizing vans and campers. She was an excellent cook and would love to visit with her relatives and grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, two siblings; Robert and Sylvester VanLoo

Survivors include two sons and their spouses; Dave and Debbie Cawrse of Bay City, OR, Dan and Kari Cawrse of Verboort, OR, five grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

The family suggests donations in Dorothy’s name to Visitation Catholic Cemetery
