Obituary

Gerald  "Gerry" Nathan Romjue, 62, a resident of the North Plains community, passed away on December 9, 2019 while on vacation in the Maldives.
Gerry was born on June 2, 1957 in Portland.  He was the youngest of three children born to Darrell and Carolyn (Anderton) Romjue and was raised in St. Johns.  In his youth, he played baseball, basketball, and football, as well as earning the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1975. He then attended Oregon State University and received a Bachelor's degree in Accounting in 1979.
Gerry met his future wife, Laura Peters, through mutual friends in college. They began dating, and following a two-year courtship, they married on December 15, 1979 in Verboort. They started their life together in Cornelius, eventually moving to Hillsboro in 1985. They relocated to their present home in North Plains in 2008.  The city boy became a country boy and he loved it!
Gerry began his career at Pacific Office Automation in 1979. He started in accounting and worked up to his current position as Chief Financial Officer. After 40 years, he still enjoyed going to work every day.
Gerry was an avid OSU Beaver fan.  He enjoyed golfing, traveling, working out, reading, and researching history. At home, he enjoyed taking care of the yard, barbequing, and cooking for his family. He loved trying new things, most recently clam digging and hunting.
Gerry had a great sense of humor and was loved by all who met him. He enjoyed hosting friends and family at their home, and loved to take care of people.
He is preceded in death by his parents.  Gerry is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Laura, four children; Chelsie and George Andrews of Hillsboro, Ashley Romjue of Seattle, Holly Draper and Bradley "Brad" Romjue of North Plains, along with three grandchildren, Addison, Owen, and Ellie. His children and grandchildren were his world and he would do anything for them.
He is also survived by two siblings and their spouses; Kathy and Jerry Novak and Doug and Debbie Romjue, his mother-in-law; Dorothy Peters, as well as four sisters-in-law and their spouses; Lyndel Peters, Renae and Dave Ooley, Karen and Ron Ooley, and Sue and Pete Lepschat.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests donations in Gerry's name to St. Edward Parish (the religious education out-of-parish subsidy fund) PO Box 507, North Plains, OR 97133.
