MARJORIE CLARA VERHAGEN LINDOW was born February 16, 1920 in Verboort, Oregon, the daughter of the late Edward Vandervelden and Mary (Kemper) Vandervelden. She was raised and received her education in the Verboort community, having attended Visitation School having graduated in 1938.
She was united in marriage to Louis J. VerHagen on October 30, 1945 in the Visitation Catholic Church in Verboort, Oregon. Following their marriage they made their home in Florence, Oregon for a short time, until moving to the Verboort community, where she has resided since.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, on March 17, 1974, after celebrating over twenty-years of marriage together.
On May 29, 1976, she was united in marriage to Roy J. Lindow in the Visitation Catholic Church in Verboort, Oregon. Following their marriage they made their home in the Verboort community, where she has resided since.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, on March 14, 1991, after celebrating over fourteen years of marriage together.
She had worked as a sealer operator for the Flavorland Cannery in Forest Grove for several years, until she retired in 1976.
Marge was a lifelong member of the Visitation Parish in Verboort; for years she helped with cutting pies for the parish dinner. Among her special interests she enjoyed quilting, sewing, traveling and playing cards, especially pinochle. She also loved baking and caring for her flowers, especially her roses.
Marge was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Florence Meeuwsen and Mildred “Millie” Vanderzanden and her two brothers, Edwin Vandervelden and Robert Vandervelden.
Survivors include her two sisters, Marcella Jansen, of Banks, Oregon and Loretta Hertel, of Roy, Oregon; her brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Evelyn Vandervelden, of Verboort, Oregon; her sister-inlaw, Coralee Vandervelden Spiering, of Banks, Oregon and her brother-in-law, ichard Vanderzanden, of Verboort, Oregon.
Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
