Obituary

Michael Richard Brunner, 67, a resident of the Forest Grove community passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center in Clackamas.

                Michael was born on December 28, 1949 in Louisville, KY. He was the oldest of three children born to Alvin and Mary Jo (Knoop) Brunner. Michael was a devout member of The Mount Carmel Catholic Church and community.  He was raised in Louisville and attended Desales High School graduating with the Class of 1967. Soon after in 1969 Michael graduated from Jefferson Community College with an associates in psychology and also studied philosophy. He was always known to be a very bright and gifted student.  

                Michael was united in marriage to Valerie Dey in 1973 and they had one son, Michael. They later divorced. He was united in marriage to Connie Carman in 1977 in Louisville, KY. They made their home in Denver, CO. They had five children: Star, Alicia, Sean, Amanda and Cassandra. They later divorced in 1985. He met his future wife, Maschelle Thorne, while at a mall in Lakewood, CO. They soon began dating and following a year courtship they were married on September 9th 1986. They made their home in Lakewood until 1988 when they moved to Portland and then in 1990 to Forest Grove where they have lived since and had three children of their own Travis, Kyle, and Alex.

                Michael was a self-taught civil engineer. He had worked for Washington County for well over 20 years. He started out as a Construction worker than moved himself up to Quality Control Technician for Land Use & Transportation and as a Union Representative (Teamsters).

                Michael loved working on cars especially his vintage Trans Am. He was a bargain hunter and often spent his weekend at bargain barns, estate sales, and garage sales. He enjoyed going to concerts with Maschelle, Classic Rock was their favorite. He played video games, was on a bowling league, played cards, and loved riding his motorcycle. Most of all he loved being a devoted husband and loving father to his kids.

                He is preceded in death by his mother; Mary Jo Brunner, sister; Geri Brunner and a son-in-law; Michael Obrist.

                He is survived by his loving wife, Maschelle, nine children and their spouses; Michael and Jennifer Brunner of Bradenton, FL. Star Obrist, Alicia Brunner, Sean Brunner, Amanda and Michael Siller, Cassandra and Ty Dygas. Travis Brunner and Katie Mutschler, Kyle and Stephanie Brunner. Alex Brunner and Ashley Lundquist. His father; Alvin Brunner of Louisville, KY, a brother and his wife; Tim and Tammy Brunner of Louisville, KY, eighteen grandchildren and one niece.
