Gertrude (Stiltjes) Kerstan

1837-1906

Gertrude Kersten was born in Frasselt, Germany, July 13th, 1837.  She married John Kerstan and they came to the United States on July 4thth, 1866, settling in DePere, Wisconsin.  Her husband died in 1891.  Gertrude Kerstan then came to Oregon in 1889 with her daughters Wilhelmina, Adalaide, and Antoinette.  Wilhelmina (Minnie) married William Smith, Adalaide (Lizzie) married Henry Van Dyke, and Antoinette (Nettie) married Joseph Moore, and settled in Verboort and Roy.  Gertrude Kerstan died August 25th, 1906 and was survived by 5 additional children in Wisconsin.
