Verboort Sausage and Sauerkraut Dinner.  We appreciate your patronage!
.........and thanks for bringing the great weather along with you!

"Always the first Saturday in November"
We hope you will join us for our 74th annual dinner
                                 November 1st, 2008

We welcome your comments and suggestions.

Every year the folks in Verboort have invited a few of their
neighbors over for a sausage and sauerkraut dinner.

In 1934, 198 lbs of sausage and 10 gallons of  sauerkraut were
served to 150 diners.  In 2007 we made 13 tons of sausage,
about 1,980 gallons of kraut, and served 8,162 guests.

We would like to invite you to come join us for dinner(map)on the
first Saturday in November.  Prices : Children (6-12) $7,
Seniors (62+) $14, and Adults, $15. The dinner includes
all you can eat Verboort Sausage and sauerkraut, both made by
parishioners right here on the church property.  Included is a 7
ingredient green salad, rolls, mashed potatoes with gravy, green
beans, and a piece of apple or lemon pie. Dinners are also available
"to go" at $15.  Bulk sausage is available, but be advised that it
sells out quickly so if you are planning on buying sausage, come
early in the day.

.........folks being served their all you can eat meals...          ......We offer a drive up window for dinners to go.........................
Folks being served their "all you can eat" meals.      Some folks choose the drive up window for dinners "to go".

When visiting us for dinner, we recommend that you buy your
dinner tickets when you arrive, then take the opportunity to take a
stroll around our grounds and beneath the 123 year old Giant
Sequoia trees. You can also buy handicrafts ranging from
homemade candy to hand sewn quilts.  All proceeds from our dinner
go to assist in the operation of Visitation School.

Just the FAQ's!
Despite what you may have seen on other web sites, the times of growing
all the food we need for the dinner are long gone.  The sheer volume of food
required, as well as changing regulations, now mean that we buy what we need.
We do make our famous sausage right here at the Parish in our state of the art
facility, and we still make our own applesauce and kraut. For those with dietary
concerns, the sausage contains pork, beef, salt, and pepper, then spends some
time in our smokehouse.  Our meat is government inspected at the facility
we buy it from, and there is also a government inspector on site the day we make
the sausage.  Regulations require that we add a fraction of a percent of
meat cure, which contains some sodium nitrite, as does all commercially available
meat.  Our sausage has no other additives or fillers.

Cash or check only.  ATM available.
Sorry, we can't accept credit or debit cards.

We open the doors for bulk Sausage and Sauerkraut sales at 9:00,
although the lines begin forming  earlier.  In 2007, the first
person lined up to buy sausage at 3:30AM!  We usually sell
out of available bulk sausage in the very early afternoon. If
bulk sausage is important to you plan to arrive early. Though
it varies a bit from year to year, usually arriving somewhere
around 8 or 9AM is your best bet.  Arriving after 10:30 or 11AM
is usually too late.

Be advised that there are separate lines for sausage and kraut.
If you are planning on buying both it is wise to bring two people.
(or make an alliance with a stranger!)
